LEARN FROM AN EXPERIENCED PERSIAN LANGUAGE EDUCATOR

Background

Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, studied a foreign language at Azad University before moving to the United States,helod a Master's degree in International Affairs from the University of Baltimore, reflecting my longstanding interest in Iran and global affairs.

With over 20 years of experience teaching Persian to adult learners in the United States, I have worked in government, university, and specialized language education settings.

I served as an Assistant Professor of Persian at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) and taught Persian at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, as well as at private language institutions, including International Communications Associates (ICA) and Diplomatic Language Services (DLS).

My professional training includes student-centered and proficiency-based language instruction and assessment at DLI, ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) Tester certification (2017), and the STARTALK Curriculum Design Program at George Washington University.

Throughout my teaching career, I witnessed students struggle with traditional Persian learning materials. Despite studying hard and memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules, many still struggled to converse with native speakers or understand what they read. This experience convinced me of the need for a well-structured curriculum that makes learning more enjoyable and leads to independent language use.

This understanding inspired me to develop my curriculuml, a structured approach designed to make acquiring Persian easier, more practical, and more enjoyable while helping students become confident, independent language users.
